SwimRun? What?

In 2017 I was watching the National Geographic channel and they talked about a SwimRun race that passed through a natural park.

I was already participating in open water swimming events and that year, to prepare for a 5km race I started running.

When I realized that we were going to have a challenge in Portugal, I thought it would be a good idea to try it. So, I bought trail tennis shoes and tried to equip myself and swim with them in the pool, using the float. I shared my intention to try the Reguengos de Monsaraz swimrun with some colleagues and we go!

The incredible six swimrunners from Swimrun Algarve, all in the sprint race.

For me, it was love at first sight! I loved the experience.

From that time I've participated in Sprint and Standard, I like them both.

Tanks to all, who share that experience with me as a team! All great moments!

Hugo Estevens Ferraz , Suzana Alemão , Horácio Maciel Amaral , Eugénia Aguero and to my doughter Joana Bárbara

To Bruno Safara Swimrun Portugal - thank you for all the work to bringing SwimRun to Portugal and inspiring all.

To Myswimrunchampionships for daring to create this championship.

SwimRun, is more than a sport is a life style!

SwimRun, what else?2025

Sometimes the most incredible stories begin with a simple "yes." A yes to trying something new. A yes to partnering up. A yes to showing up at the starting line of a first-edition world championships race.

That "yes" just made us World Champions in SwimRun Men's Doubles 2024! 🏆

It has to process how @hugo_l_torres and I, representing @swimrunalgarve, crossed that finish line in an event that had swimrunners from 15 nations at the startline. 11 seconds. That's all that separated us from second place after 2h35m of intense racing through 21km of running and 4km of swimming in beautiful Troia.

No, we're not the fastest team in the world. But we were there. We showed up. We grabbed our chance. And sometimes, that's all it takes to make history in this incredible sport that's still writing its first chapters.

To my coaches @triornellas and @crossliftalgarve - your training made this possible. To @brunosafara@swimrun.portugal - thank you for bringing SwimRun to Portugal and inspiring so many. To @andisportiv@myswimrunchampionships for daring to create this championship. To Jana - for that crucial qualifying victory in Vale do Lobo. To @louledesporto - for the recognition for the first time in a gala of this amazing sport.

2025 will find us hopefully in Germany, near Berlin, to defend this title. But for now, we just look back at 2024 still amazed by this surreal moment.
